FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
These questions and answers are here to guide thorough our site. Please email us at info@costasales.com if there is anything we have not covered or anything you are not sure of. If you have any questions regarding a property listed or about one of our associated Estate Agents please use their contact details which you will find on any property listing or their web pages.
Q. Do you cover the whole of Spain or just the Costas?
Originally we only covered the Costas but as many of our agents did cover inland areas we have now started to incorporate the inland provinces as well.
Q. Are you part of an Estate Agency group?
No all Estate Agents listing on the costsales network are totally independent.
Q. Do we have to register or login to search properties and what is the advantage of doing so?
No you don't have to register or login to search properties. If you do you then have the ability of saving your searches (see below) and have the facility of using our other features.
Q. What do you do with our personal information if we do register?
When registering as a visitor, you will see we ask you nothing more than your name and email address. This then allows us to give you all of the above facilities. We will never give or sell your details to any other company or person. Click here to see our privacy policy
Q. When I have forgotton my password and you provide me with a new one, do I have to continue to use this new password.
The new password you will be given by Costasales.com will be a computer generated password and you will probably find this difficult to remember. So to change this back to one you will remember, simply use this new password to get back into the system. Then go to your members area, on the left hand side you will see "Edit details" go to this page and change the password at the bottom and click "Update"
Q. Can I put my house on your site privately?
No sorry, we only take adverts from Estate Agents and developers.
Q. How does the "Map" link work?
When you click on the "Map" link you get by default the graphic map. There will be a pointer showing either the location of the town where the property is situated or the exact position of the property.(A caption above the map will give more information on the position of the pointer). On the left hand side you will see arrows. By using these arrows, you can "zoom in" "zoom out" and go left and right. By "zooming out" you can see the location of the area in relation to the whole map of Spain and Europe.
There are two other settings.
"Satellite" this gives "Google Earth" Satellite mapping. It is exactly the same as the ordinary map but shows the latest satelite photograph available. Again you can "zoom in and out".
"Hybrid" when you click this you get both the graphic map and Satellite image superimposed on each other.
Please note: The Satellite images from Google Earth while a fantastic new resourse can be a year or two out of date. Whilst they are improving all of the time, they may not show up new building and development work and must not be considered to be an acurate picture of the area or property as it is today. We provide them purely as a guide. You must consult the Estate Agent on their acuracy.
Q. The Mapping is slow and I can't always get the satellite images, why is this?
This facility works best with users who have a "Broadband" internet connection and may not work or will be slow with "dial up" connections.
Q. What are my "Saved Searches"?
Saved searches are a great way of finding your ideal property in Spain. All you need to do is enter your ideal property search in the search boxes. So you enter your ideal "Costa" your type of house, number of bedrooms etc. Once you have saved these, we will email you once a week of all of the new properties added which match your critera. You can then decide whether or not you want to follow them up.
Q. What is local information, where does it come from and how does it benefit me?
Local information is what is says. Its local information on any Costa or town. When a local Estate Agent registers with us, not only do they advertise their properties but we encourage them to add their personal knowledge of their area. They will know more about an area than anybody else. They can add anything they like, photos, text and they will have their link at the side should you wish to contact them to find out more. REMEMBER THE ESTATE AGENT IS YOUR LOCAL EXPERT.
Q. Can I enter information into the local information section?
If you are a visitor to the site and not an Estate Agent, then you cannot directly add information to the "local information area". However, we are always happy to consider articles and photos from our visitors. All you have to do is send the information you want us to list via our "contact" link on the costasales home page and we will be happy to consider it for inclusion.
Q.What are the prices quoted in and do they change with currency fluctuations and what does the (pound) symbol mean?
The prices quoted are in Euros. As Spain's currency is the euro all property transactions have to be by law in the euro. This euro price will not alter but the conversion to sterling will. To get the sterling guide, just position your mouse over the price or (pound) sign and you will get the current sterling rate. The sterling rate we give is purely a guide and will vary.
Please note however, the actual amount of sterling you pay for your property will be dependent on the rate at the date you exchange your sterling. It will not be fixed once you have decided to purchase a property or exchange contacts.
You can also forward buy your Euros, this may have advantages if you are buying "off plan" but again once you must take advice on this.
If in doubt please take professional advice, particulary in respect of forward planning. This is very important as you could end up paying more than what you expected .
